Our Mission

The Urban Farming Foundation, Inc. aka (TUFF) is a legal 501(c)3 not-for-profit foundation dedicated to advancing food security, economic & environmental justice within urban communities. 

We are dedicated to working with urban farms within the inner cities of america who are challenging economic marginalization and economic degradation.

 We are part of the new burgeoning “Food Justice” movement.  

We affirm that “Food Justice” is the right of communities to: define their own food and agriculture systems; to redistribute food-producing resources such as land credit, markets, and education and to exercise their ability to sustainably grow, process, distribute, sell, share, give, cook, and eat healthy, culturally-relevant food that is ecologically and economically sustainable.

 As part of our mission, we support the development of an urban farm-to-institution system that is organized around the principles of economic democracy and environmental stewardship. 

We believe this system will build community health & wealth by incorporating programs that promote educational progress, economic security, broad based profit sharing, and a civic agriculture that celebrates participatory democracy.
